mEgo
Since Amber Mac recommended Beema on net@night (on the Twit network) I’ve been obsessed with finding a cool avatar creation application. mEgo seems like it might fit the bill. I won’t ramble too much but it has some pretty neat features. With mEgo you can add in cool things. Firstly you get to pick your Avatars [...]
Net Tools
Net Tools is an amazing collection of tools. Everything from IP scanners to a web page creator is in this collection. There are some questionable applications too however they are designed to test a network against things like spammers. I’ve only just started going through this stuff. With over 175 programs there is a lot to go through. Hmmm, did I mention its free.
Technology related financial stuff, sort of…
I’ve found myself, as of late, trying a bunch of online money management software. I’ve tried Mint, Wesabe, Quicken Online, and Buxfer one other (that I thought started with a B and was owned by Google, anyone?). All of them except Quicken Online have one major feature missing that stopped me from using the site. [...]
Beema – avatar creation
The concept behind Beema.com is very interesting. Basically after setting up an account one can pick from a variety of avatars. Actually you can have about a dozen of your favorites stored up but you pick only one default. Beema.com give a user a phone number to call in which you record a message for ones new avatar to say.
BadApple, Bad
So prior to getting an 80GB iPod for my birthday I had a Rio Carbon. I really like listening to podcasts but the best software out there to download and subscribe to them is iTunes. In an effort to use iTunes with my Rio I used a program call BadApple. The idea was to allow [...]
Windows XP Install Repair
If I forget how to do this I’m in big trouble, but just in case and for everyone else out there that might need instructions on how to do an in-place repair: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm I know it says its not a cure all but it can certainly save you a lot of time. When faced with [...]
Running System Restore from Recovery Console
Wow is this useful. Basically it amounts to coping the SYSTEM and SOFTWARE registry settings from where Windows saves restore points. Sometimes you just can’t do an install repair using a XP disc because it doesn’t recognize an existing version of Windows. http://searchwincomputing.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid68_gci1167895,00.html addthis_url = ‘http%3A%2F%2Fblog.thenitetechs.com%2F2008%2F06%2Frunning-system-restore-from-recovery-console%2F’; addthis_title = ‘Running+System+Restore+from+Recovery+Console’; addthis_pub = ”; Technorati Tags: console, [...]
Map Network Drive
This is just a reference for me. I forget commands often. This command is used to map a network drive: * net use s: \\server\share * Seriously, how hard is it to remember that. Now that I’ve typed it I probably don’t need this post anymore. Oh well. addthis_url = ‘http%3A%2F%2Fblog.thenitetechs.com%2F2008%2F06%2Fmap-network-drive%2F’; addthis_title = ‘Map+Network+Drive’; addthis_pub [...]
Launchy Problems
I finally fixed it. Whew. I love Launchy, but at work I couldn’t get it to work. Well actually, at one point it did work then I messed something up, reinstalled it, but never got it to work again. Every time I pressed alt+space nothing would happen. Ok, it would do the Windows default action [...]
